Leadership Theories
There are a number of leadership theories, some that
focus on the relationship between leaders and followers and others
that focus on specific traits, skills, and abilities related to
effective leadership. For this Discussion, you will explore
similarities and differences among three of the most well-known
leadership theories: contingency, path-goal, and leader-member
exchange.
To prepare for this Discussion:
- Review Chapters 6 and 7 in the course text, Leadership: Theory and Practice.
- Review the book excerpt Contingency Theories of Leadership
- Review the article "How Do You Make Leaders More Effective?"
- Consider the contingency, path-goal, and leader-member exchange theories.
- Select two leadership theories and think about how they are similar to and different from each other.
With these thoughts in mind:
Post by Day 4a comparison (similarities and differences) of two leadership theories. Then explain any conclusions you might draw from your comparison.
