Review Rich Martin’s article, Police Corruption: An Analytical Look into Police Ethic(ARTICLE:Martin, Rich, MS. FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin; Washington Vol. 80, Iss. 5, (May 2011): 11-17.), and then conduct some basic research into a criminal justice organization you are interested in working for and their hiring processes. In your initial post, be sure to identify the organization you researched and answer the following questions:
Martin cites “three basic tenets” to ensure ethical behaviors in criminal justice institutions. What evidence, if any, did you find that your selected organization possesses these three basic tenets?
How does the organization address the issues of ethics, integrity, and character through the hiring process? ( 1 paragraph) Respond to discussion and two peers.
Peer 1 Danielle )I chose to research the FBI. The FBI has a code of ethics for on and off duty members posted on their website that employees must follow. Second, the FBI needs to have strong and ethical leadership to achieve “high standards across the agency” (Fortenbery, 2015). Lastly, they have “mission statements” and standards of oath for new hires. In addition, they have “frequent and consistent training” to maintain an ethical team (Fortenbery, 2015).
For the hiring process for all government applicants, even student interns and volunteers, must undergo a suitability review to determine if they are qualified for the position. They also do a security clearance and use prior employers and coworkers as a reference to make sure you would be a good fit and have not had any poor work/ethic experiences (Yale Law School, n.d.).
