This Case Study is over the film Leaving Las Vegas, and the AA 12Step Program.
The questions for this case study can be found in Packet #3 on pages 32-33. Packet #3 also has information on AA/NA and the twelve steps. You can also use your AA resource packet.
In Packet #3 page 7 there is a group assignment. Instead of answering those questions in a group, you will incorporate that information into your analysis of Ben and Sera. In addition to the character specific questions on pages 32-33, also include:
a. your interpretation of each of the twelve steps
b. why you feel the step was included as part of the 12 Step program
c. which steps do you see applying to Ben and Sera? (for Sera pay particular attention to the section in your packet on Co-Dependence.)
d. how would you go about engaging Ben/Sera into the steps you feel they need to address?
e. how do you think carrying out any of these steps will or would help the clients achieve sobriety?
You can find this movie on Prime, YouTube, ITunes, and Google Play for a small rental fee. You can watch the movie free of charge with ads, on Vudu. I think the only requirement is that you sign up with them. You can also watch it free if you have Xfinity/Comcast. It is available through Xfinity from ScreenPix. This link takes you to the Xfinity information page detailing how to access ScreenPix, if you haven't already used it in the past: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/screenpix-encore-changes (Links to an external site.
